The term mummy defines the corpse of a human being or an animal that, through a series of procedures or through completely natural circumstances, has managed to keep the body in an acceptable state of conservation, for a long time after the death of said individual.
In Egyptian culture there was a belief that after death eternal life ensues, which is an extension of life on earth, with the same pleasures, misunderstandings and dangers, however, so that this life could continue it was necessary to have the body, so that the soul had a place to stay when the time came. Therefore, to keep it in good condition, a technique called mummification was applied.
The mummification process lasted almost 70 days, it had been learned by observing the first burials, which were carried out under the desert sands, which managed to consume the moisture of the body and thus prevent the decomposition of the Body. It should be noted that this process is considered an art, which was not born out of nowhere or invented suddenly.
The process was discovered by mere chance. Egyptians in Neolithic times buried their dead under the sand in the hot and dry desert, or in places where there was no fertile soil. The climatic elements such as heat, humidity and other factors acted as natural drying agents and absorbed all the liquids of the body without life. By chance, the Egyptians realized that the tombs that had been lootedor excavated by animals in search of food, they had inside the hole the body of the deceased mummified in a natural way. That is how the idea of burying them that way arose in order to preserve them for the afterlife and they began to develop techniques to better dry and preserve the bodies for which they were mummified.
