What is mouse? »Its definition and meaning

Anonim

Mouse is an English word that when translated into Spanish is translated as mouse, however this term, rather than referring to the animal, is generally used in the computer world to refer to one of the most widely used peripherals while in front of a computer. It was given this name for the first time in the 1960s by its creators (Bill English and Douglas Engelbart). Although initially this device bears the name of "XY position indicator for a screen system", it was displaced with what began as a nickname implemented by the same people who created it because the device was very similar to the small rodent (because its tiny head and long tail resembles the shape and wire of equipment) and so it stayed.

The mouse is one of the input peripherals that are part of a computer, through it you can interact directly with the computer through a pointer (indicator) that is displayed on the screen. Basically it is a hardware device whose main function is to control the functions ordered by the user, because thanks to the complement of its pointer on the screen, it can move through it and by means of a button it can select any of the applications that are contained in the computer.

There are different types of mice, however, the basic implements that they must contain are two buttons, a scroll wheel and a connection cable (these are known as classic or mechanical mice), although with advances in technology, mice have evolved in quality., quality and design, now the scroll wheel is given by a laser that allows the movement of the pointer (called optical mouse), more than two buttons allowing to manage various computer functions such as volume or screen brightness, and many of the mice do not have the connection cable because their new design is wireless (where they can be managed by WiFi or Bluetooth). On the other hand, the system that laptops have that fulfills the same functions of the mouse is called a touchpad.
