Sampling is a term mostly used in the field of statistics, which in order to carry out studies on a population (which is the set of physical elements, which have some common characteristic, located in a specific geographic space in a specific period of time, and on which you want to investigate), it is necessary to take a sample of that given population, because these can be finite or infinite, and even in the case in which they are finite, they can be made up of a large number of elements making a complete analysis impossible, an example of a populationTaking into account all its characteristics, it could be “ the amount of corn harvested on the farm –La Esperanza- during 2010 ”. In order to study them it is necessary to obtain a sample.
A sampling is the procedure through which a sample (which is a subset of elements from a population, that is, a portion of elements extracted from a previously defined population) is selected from a population. The sampling refers to the reduction of elements that make up a universe or population, in order to comply with the corresponding investigation.
In order to carry out the desired study of the population (from the observation of a few of its components), the sample extracted must be representative of it, so that the conclusions reached or the results obtained from the analysis are valid and impartial, this is thanks to the sampling technique.
