The word gift originates from the Latin "obsequĭum" which means entertainment, it comes from the verb "obsequi" composed of the prefix "ob" which means "in front of" or "in exchange for" and the root "sequi" which means " follow". According to the Royal Spanish Academy, it defines the word gift as the action and work of giving. In other words , a gift is understood as a thing or object that is offered or given as a sign and demonstration of affection, affection, respect, courtesy, etc.
