What is opulence? »Its definition and meaning

Anonim

This term is used to refer to that or that which has great wealth, always focusing on the material aspect, although leaving aside whether they are economic or not. In the same way, it is usually used to indicate those qualities or works that have been flawlessly developed and that are characterized by being very complete in terms of theories and techniques. In short, it indicates abundance and resources.

Whoever enjoys opulence can be called "opulent", since he has under his command great knowledge or, well, large sums of money and property.

Etymologically speaking, this word comes from the Latin “opulentia”, which contains the suffix “–ia”, which would be alluding to a quality. It is a derivation of the word “opulentus”, which can be translated as “rich”, which consists of the abundance suffix “–ulentus” and the root “ops”, representing wealth. In contrast to this word, there are terms such as decadence, scarcity, scarcity, need and misery.

It is common to be framed, above all, in an economic context, since it is one of the dominant aspects of human life. Not only are people referred to in this way, but a group of people, such as an organization, company or company, as well as a nation or State can be spoken of.

Economic affluence is determined not only by the actions that the individual or individuals take to reach that position, but also the series of circumstances that surround them, starting with the political and economic system in which they operate.
