Etymologically the word pavilion is derived from the French term " paveillon " whose meaning is " tent ", however it is said that originally this word comes from the Latin "papilio", and that it was a term used by the Romans to describe or mention certain Tents that were used in military camps, which were characterized by a large and very wide structure, which served as a meeting and work space for the military of the time. With the passage of time, this word evolved until it came to mean " roundabout " or isolated building.
Currently, this term can have different connotations, one of them refers to the flags that represent a country or nation, and that usually indicate the nationality of the ships, these can include four categories: Civil flag, are those flags that they wave on civilian ships. Institutional pavilion, are those that are hoisted in the ships belonging to the government or its administration. War flag, they are the ones that are raised on the navy ships and finally there is the special flag, this is used in countries that have special vessels, such as in the United States the coast guards have a flag raised on their boats that identifies them as such. In thesports, when an athlete manages to achieve a triumph it is said that he raised the national flag, referring to the flag of his country.
In the musical context, the word pavilion is used to denote the widest part of some wind musical instruments, such as the clarinet. In the area of architecture, a pavilion is a set of buildings with various units, for example in a health center there are different pavilions, that is, there is the neonatology pavilion or the psychiatry pavilion, etc. In a prison there are the different pavilions where those deprived of liberty are located, and finally there are the military pavilions located in the barracks.
On the other hand, within the gastronomy of Venezuela there is its typical dish called by the Venezuelans "pabellón", which consists of a dish that has a combination of rice, black beans (beans), shredded meat, and fried ripe banana.
