What is panorama? »Its definition and meaning

Anonim

A panorama is understood to be a detailed and spacious landscape that is appreciated from a place or position where it can be admired or observed. The term panorama comes from the Greek composed of "pan" which means "all", and "orama" which means sight; therefore the full term means "all that is seen". In the theater this term is used to name a cloth with a flat area, of uniform color, located in the background of the scene, when it is illuminated, it gives a sensation of the natural sky or of environmental expansion.

It is also called panorama to the painted or colored view that is in a large cylinder with a hole, which in the center has a circular and isolated platform, for the spectating public; this platform is covered at the top to make the overhead light invisible. In the world of architecture, this word makes its appearance since several buildings in the world have this term by name, such as the Panorama Towers found in the city of Las Vegas in the United States, among others.

Another of its uses is to describe the general appearance of a subject or topic. On the other hand, it can be noted that several towns and cities in the world have the name panorama, for example, among them we can mention a suburb in Greece near Mount Hortiatis; and in Brazil exactly in its capital Sao Paulo it is also called panorama. This term is then the name of one of the most popular and widely circulated newspapers in Venezuela, it is a newspaper made in the state of Zulia, where it was founded in 1914 by its creators Abraham and David Belloso Rossell, in association with Ramón Villasmil.
