History of peace

More than three thousand years ago, Ramses II, the Egyptian Pharaoh, and Emperor Hattusilis III signed one of the oldest peace treaties in the history of the world. The pact settled the end of the Hittite-Egyptian war, which lasted more than 80 years. The two former superpowers finally ended the war with the treaty in 1276 BC.

The country of Egypt and the country of Hatti will forever be in a state of harmony and brotherhood, just as we are with ourselves. Conciliation and fraternity leave no room for any enmity.

The Egyptian Pact "The Hittite" admitted the end to the long war between the two powers. However, the two opposing Hittites and Egyptians shared the land they longed to conquer, many strategies were proposed in the land known today as Syria, and the war shows the geopolitical value of the country even so many centuries ago.

The link between the right to life and peace, which was presented in the Charter of the recognized United Nations Organization (UN) a few thousand years later, had already been elaborated in the Hittite treaty as follows: “Look, the country of Egypt and the country of Hittite will live forever in harmony, brotherhood and peace ”.

The third obligation they had to abide by was that neither side will attack the other and that the treaty would be in force until the end of time. Neither the Egyptians nor the Hittites should and could occupy the land belonging to the other nation, history was marked, with the evidence that if peace can be achieved in the world.

It is important to mention the term pacifism which was considered by many as one of the important movements in the search for peace during the 20th century; The protagonists were Nelson Mandela, Mahatma Gandhi and Martin Luther King, each one from their nations fought in search of harmony and love, this organization was in charge of looking for strategies to raise awareness among human beings, and thus achieve balance in the hard work of coexistence. One of the religions that support the objectives and visions of pacifism was Hinduism, since within its principles it is also found to mitigate violence and achieve it throughout the planet.

Then, in the mid-1960s, the Hippie subculture emerged, with the mission of promoting the wave of love and peace, their vision was to unite the world, where mutual love prevailed, in fact, they are the creators of the well-known symbol of Peace., which has represented images of Paz for years.

Added to this and cooperating with the wave of non-conflict, many musicians came together and composed songs spreading the message of peace, including John Lennon, Chico Méndez, and others who became tireless activists.

The International Day of Peace commemorates the ideals and activities carried out with the purpose of achieving harmony in all the nations and peoples of the planet. This day was established by the General Assembly of the United Nations (UN) during 1981.
