The word Perception is derived from the Latin percptio, and this at the same time is composed of the prefix per, which means (completely), the verb capere, which means (to capture) and the suffix tio, whose meaning is (action and effect). So this word means the action and effect of capturing things completely, that is, it refers to the consequence of perceiving something, through the senses of sight, hearing, smell, touch or taste. That is why it is said that it is a sensation that is experienced inside each person, but is absorbed by information from the outside or from our environment.
Therefore this sensation of perception is the result of an impact caused by a material fact such as images, sounds, smells, tastes or sensations that allow us to understand or know something, since things are interpreted through sensory signals. And it is thanks to this action that man can know the world as it is, because it is a way of deciphering it through our bodies. Therefore, it is a result that has different effects on each person, since each one has the ability to understand their environment in their own way and respond accordingly due to the impulses they receive.
Despite being an unconscious act, perception resorts to memory, where the information is already processed, obeying brain stimuli, which are in charge of giving us the physical reality of our environment. The way it works is through a kind of mental image that is stored in memory thanks to the experiences that have been lived, and everything will depend on the way in which each received stimulus is interpreted, which means that it is carried out a comparison of each new stimulus with one that has been previously experienced (but is similar). Therefore it is totally and completely different in each subject, because each one is capable of carrying out a unique and different perceptual process. This leads each individual to select and organize stimuli and store them in their memory and at the same time allows them to connect with the reality that surrounds them.
