What is psychic? »Its definition and meaning

Anonim

The term is used primarily as an adjective and noun. So depending on its use it has its meaning. As an adjective, it refers to everything that comes from the mind or has to do with it. Likewise, it is defined as what has to do with psychological functions and elements, talk about mental state, mental violence, psychic development.

In that sense, all those phenomena or processes that take place in our mind, such as perceptions, sensations, reasoning or memory, are considered psychic.

Also, if any of these functions or processes are altered, it is in the presence of a mental disorder or imbalance.

On the other hand, there is the use of the term as a noun or subject, which defines that person possesses or attributes to himself, the ability to perceive the energies, feelings and information of a person.

In addition, psychics claim that they are able to read the minds of others, due to their ability to understand the network of feelings and energy around individuals, which they describe as complex.

Also, it is called "psychic" to those individuals who possess or attribute to themselves, the mental abilities of what is known as parapsychology, such as levitation (suspension in the air of the body), telepathy (transmission of thoughts), telekinesis (moving objects with the mind), divination (reading thoughts), clairvoyance (ability to perceive the visual realities of other people or guess the future) and extrasensory perception (receiving information by means other than the five known senses: sight, hearing, smell, taste and touch).

But these supposed mental abilities have been highly criticized throughout history, thus the self-denomination of "psychic" that an individual gives himself when "possessing" said abilities has always been questioned, much more by scientists, who always cling to objectivity and possibility of scientific verification.

In this way, by failing to verify what they see, they label as "charlatans" or "liars" those who claim to have mental abilities, but who for the scientific community profit from the superstition of society.
