The word support presents several extended references in our language, on the one hand, it is called the part of a chair in which the people who sit support the backrest, on the other hand it is used in a symbolic sense to justify the moral support that someone represents for another, and in certain contexts, such as law, financial, among others, it is used as a synonym for guarantee.

It refers to a support or guarantee, both moral and material. In the first case it happens, for example, when we say that the father is a great spiritual support for children who have lost their mother; or that the teacher gave the child great support, encouraging him to continue studying, despite his serious illness; or that the priest gave him the support of one of his faithful in a difficult moment in his life.

In these cases, it would be synonymous with containment. In the second case, as a material support, it is generally used, in reference to chairs, benches or armchairs, being the part that supports the weight of the back, and contributes, when its design is anatomical, to avoid bad posture. The beds also usually have backups.

The word backup is also used in the computer field to refer to making a backup, ensuring that information is not lost if for any reason the original file was destroyed, disappeared, or deteriorated.

In another, more symbolic sense, the endorsement is a guarantee, protection or support: “Yamila was able to study in Europe thanks to the support of her family”, “From a very young age, Lionel Messi had the support of his parents to dedicate himself to football "," I would love to buy this house, but I need financial support to pay the mortgage "," the president has supported the questioned governor ".

In the field of computing, the notion of backup is used to name the backup that is made to some file. The documents that the user considers important are those that deserve to have a backup (that is, a copy for security reasons). In this way, if for any reason the original file is lost or damaged, the user can appeal to the backup.

Backup copies are generally stored on USB sticks, CDs, DVDs, in the cloud or on a hard drive, although it is important that they are on a different disc from the original file to avoid losing information.
