What is Solomon? »Its definition and meaning

Anonim

Solomon is a well-known word for religious reasons, because it was the name carried by the son of David, king of Israel. In the bible he is mentioned as the president who focused on building various temples in Jerusalem, in addition to having been a faithful follower of God, also to provide its inhabitants with peace and prosperity in all aspects. He was the last monarch of that region and his reign lasted up to four decades, all this happening during the years 928 and 965. Throughout time, he has been credited with writing books of the bible such as the Song of Songs, Book of Proverbs and Book of Ecclesiastes.

His father, King David, and his mother, Bathsheba, had another son other than Solomon, but he was exterminated at God's request, since her husband was murdered at David's request in order to marry her; In the midst of sadness over the loss of his first-born son, the King decided to conceive another with his wife, being born from that union. This man was said to be very wise and due to the empire he inherited from his father, he possessed great wealth. Stories are told in the Bible, often of Yahweh's appearances to Solomon, encounters in which the King promised God complete faithfulness and prayed for positive qualities. Towards the end of his life, sin consumed him: he became a greedy person and it is said that he had more than 700 women.
