The ideal state of well-being is known as integral health, which is achieved only when there is a correct balance between physical, emotional, spiritual, biological and social factors. It is in this way that people manage to grow in all areas of life and, therefore, feel healthy both physically and mentally, in addition to having full happiness.
This concept of health encompasses several elements moving towards a holistic point of view which transcends the mere functioning of the organism, said ideal state of health depends on various elements, but there is no doubt that the most important are the genetic element and the lifestyle that each individual possesses.
There is a large number of studies that coincide in the fact that the changes in the lifestyle that are focused on a healthy and balanced diet, the constant practice of physical activity, the execution of techniques to relax, the quality and quantity of the sleep, adopting measures such as prevention against various risks and accidents, as well as regular visits to a health specialist are of great importance to achieve good health and at the same time to maintain it over time.
Despite the fact that the concept of integral health must include the concept of quality of life, in this sense, events such as advances in medical research, the increase in life expectancy when a new individual is born, which increases the population of advanced age, the availability of treatments that have the capacity to extend life and greater access to resources causes people who develop chronic diseases to increase their years of life, despite the fact that they are not healthy since they suffer from some type of disease, there is the possibility that they are well controlled, that is, they will not present any symptoms or manifestations with which they can enjoy an excellent quality of life.
Experts affirm that the best way to achieve an optimal state of health, or comprehensive health, is through the adoption of preventive measures that offer the possibilities of avoiding or delaying the appearance of chronic diseases such as diabetes, high blood pressure, arteriosclerosis, degenerative diseases of the joints and the nervous system, and even cancer.
