What is narrative sequence? »Its definition and meaning

Anonim

To clearly define this term, we should place ourselves in the sense of each word that does it. In this way, we can point out, on the one hand, that the succession of events or elements related to each other is called a sequence. While the narration alludes to the act of telling a story and to the prose literary genre that is characterized by presenting a series of events that occurred in a specific time frame.

Among the most important sub-genres of this genre are the story and the novel.

A narrative sequence as the way to relate some facts when telling them. In a general sense, each narrative sequence must maintain a structure and the most traditional is one that is based on three aspects: statement of the story, node and result. These three elements are always present, although their order can be altered and the narrator can also use different techniques to relate the different sequences (racconto, flashback or flashforward are some of the methods used to explain the events)

In any case, in each narrative sequence there is a combination of temporality (for example, in the racconto something is told from the past to the present). Therefore, it is possible to distinguish three dimensions in time to relate one action to another: precedence (something happened before anything else), simultaneity (something happens while a different event occurs) or later (for example, “after holidays, there were days of great concern “).

Each narrative text follows a logical and coherent sequence in presenting the events it tells us. To follow the story, it is essential that the narrative respects and fulfills this narrative sequence, which is divided into three distinct parts: introduction, node, and result. And its parts of narrative text are composed of: Introduction, node and result with examples.

The introduction is one of the fundamental parts of the text because, through it, we can catch the reader's attention and encourage them to continue reading the work or just the opposite.

After the presentation where all the most important characters, places, times and events are presented, the knot appears, which is the most extensive part, since the most important events that occur with the characters occur in it, which, in general,, have a problem or have to resolve a conflict or win a battle in order to achieve final victory.

In most jobs, the protagonist is victorious and solves the problem, but this is not always the case.

The ending is the last part of the story, it is where the narrative ends. All problems are solved, all solutions are provided, and all puzzles previously posed in the knot are discovered. In addition to resolving the central conflict, the reader is also told what the fate of the main characters is.
