Free software, also called free software, which is the equivalent in English, is that software or program that gives each of its users the freedom to copy, execute, modify, study, distribute, improve and share it. Therefore, it is important to mention that there is talk of freedom when carrying out these tasks but there is no talk of it being free. Which many times they tend to confuse you, since their name in English as already said is "free software" and they tend to think that these programs are free.
According to the organization established in October 1985 by Richard Stallman and other people interested in the world of software called the Free Software Foundation, whose purpose is to spread the free software movement, it refers to this particular context as the freedom that the users to copy, run, study and distribute the software and even modify it and then redistribute it.
But it should be noted that many of these free software are generally free, or at least very low cost; but this is not required to happen; therefore, we should not associate free software with free software. On the other hand, we must not confuse free software with public domain software, which is one that does not need a license since its exploitation rights are for all types of users; that is, anyone can use it.
Users who opt for this type of free software have four freedoms such as the freedom to use whatever they want; the freedom to study and modify it; the freedom to redistribute copies of it; and the freedom to redistribute the modified versions.
