What is Sufism? »Its definition and meaning

Anonim

Sufism is defined as a set of religious habits characterized by emphasizing certain ceremonies, in order to serve as an orientation for those individuals seeking a spiritual encounter with God. The prophet Muhammad is the greatest representative of this. Experts in the field assure that Sufism is nothing more than a mystical form of the Islam religion. Another meaning that is given to this term is to refer to certain occult organizations that have no link with Islam, such as some forms of syncretism (unification of religious doctrines) today.

The exact meaning of the word Sufism is somewhat complicated since it has been obtained from different words that have different meanings, according to experts in the field say that Sufism is clear from the word "safa" referring to sincere and pure hearts of his faithful. On the other hand, there are those who claim that the Sufi is derived from the word "saff" which means first place, which the Sufis understand as that they have a priority relationship with God. Another meaning is the one obtained from the word "sufffab" which means "Suf" Sofa People which is a tradition of the Sufis to use clothes made of wool.

According to the traditions of Sufism, this can be carried out in all religions regardless of their creed since this is considered as the center of all religion. It does not make any kind of criticism of other customs and beliefs, since each individual has the free will to choose what to believe.

Sufi believers have the belief that God is the cause of each and every one of the actions that they perform and that they, as their servants, only perform those acts, since without that it would not be that way, they would simply be similar to the Lord and could do what they please. In change in this way God is responsible for all actions they perform. This means that they are satisfied with what God decides for them, whether or not they like it.
