It is the external part of a body, that is, the contour through which it is possible to know the space it occupies in the surrounding space and which, in addition, separates it from it. In most cases, in property sales, the size of the area to be acquired is an important point within the characteristics of the real estate, since, starting from there, it could be judged if it accommodates the demands of the clients.

The different descriptions that are given to the countries, is the amount of square kilometers that it has in its entirety. Russia, for its part, is the country with the longest length, having at least 17 million km2, followed by Canada, the United States, and China, among others. The title of the state with the smallest area is held by the Vatican City, being considered the smallest because, in total, it does not exceed one km2.

There are different metric units used to measure the extensions of a surface; one of the most widely used and known is the square meter, which is equivalent to a square with one meter on a side. Starting from it, is the square kilometer, which is made up of one million square meters; following him is the square hectometer, which goes back to ten thousand square meters; finally, the square decameter is also used, which is equivalent to one hundred square meters.

Other units that are also guided by the square meter system are decimeters, centimeter and millimeters, the first representing 0.01, the second 0.0001 and the third the 0.000001 of it. Within the mathematical field, specifically in geometry, a surface is called a figure defined by points in space, whose coordinates act to verify an equation or are given as continuous functions of two parameters. In physics, it only indicates the size of an object in two dimensions.
