Substitute the term is used in the Castilian language to define that or what supplements or replaces another in their activities. In any job or profession, the substitute is the one who has all the knowledge and skills of the one he is replacing, in this way avoiding any inconvenience arising in the work being done.
In the educational and sports context, the use of substitutes is very common and where they represent professionals who assume the commitment to continue a specific activity, as if they were the owner. The substitutions usually originate because of some illness, injury or any other setback suffered by the holder and that makes it impossible for him to temporarily exercise his job.
For educational institutes, teachers or substitute teachers would be responsible for covering the post of another teacher who is the owner of the place permanently, but for some reason had to leave their roles within the team that hired him.
In sports, substitute players are those who, even when they belong to the team officially. They must remain on the substitute bench, without entering the team's usual formation or roster. However, in the event that a starting player is injured or any other eventuality happens to him, then the substitute player may enter.
