Anonim

In Anglo-Saxon slang, "swag" is a term used to refer to individuals who have a pattern of behavior similar to that of rappers and other icons of popular music. Within this, clothing and accessories are also included, in addition to vocabulary. In its origins, the word swag was much more oriented towards people who lead a fast pace of life and who found a stimulus in sex, money and alcohol. In the 2010s the term has become incredibly popular, thanks to media stars such as singer Justin Bieber, whose style is taken as inspiration for the definition of swag.

Previously, in Scottish Gaelic regions, people who had a specific gait, similar to that of singers of musical genres such as hip-hop and rap, were called “slang”. This evolved to become "swag", whose meaning, towards the sixteenth century, was "to swing." It should be noted that this word, as an acronym, usually defines people who buy luxurious products, being like this: Silver (silver), Wine (wine), Art (art) and Gold (gold).

In recent years, the term denotes people who act and wear the characteristic garments of a particular social tribe. It is said that Sean Combs, better known as Puff Daddy, an American rap star, gave this meaning to the term; subsequently, he shared it with Kanye West and Justin Bieber. After a while, and based on the clothing of the aforementioned singers, an image about "swag" was conceived; In this way, people who wore tight pants and below the hips, revealing underwear, as well as long shirts and striking flat caps, were included within this social group.
