The word thanatology derives from the Greek "thanatos" which means "death" and "logos" means "discourse, study, treatise" which is also defined as " the study of the effects that death produces on bodies ", thanatology is in charge of studying the integral specialties of the phenomena of death in humans and animals, applying the investigation system or forensic procedures, in which they are responsible for solving and dealing with conflictive situations that occur around it, since thevarious fields of study, such as medicine, psychology, physical anthropology, the region and law.

The tanatología was approved as a medical science many years ago and since then, the Thanatology is considered as a way interdisciplinary which is in charge of the evaluation of samples linked to death, not so much for the benefit nor religious beliefs, cultural, among others. One of the activities that the thanatologist must carry out is to advise the patient to accept the situation of his illness, that acceptance that is interpreted in a hope for the real situation, so that he can havea better quality of life during the final death, dying around pure caring people, having the proper care, a quiet and peaceful death.

The Thanatology is composed of various types which are: the tanatosemiologia, cronotanatodiagnóstico, tanatolegislación, medicolegal necropsy, bionatologia, embalsamologia, somatic death, cell death.
