Etymologically, the word tenor is derived from two different origins: The Latin “tenor” that descends from the word “tenere” which means to have; or the Italian "tenore" . Therefore this word has two definitions, when the word is taken from its Latin origin, then we are talking about the content or the nature of something. For example, when we sign several copies of the same document, we say that several models of the same content (content) have been signed.
Now, if we take the word according to its Italian origin, it refers to the type of voice that in opera music is located between the baritone and contralto voices.
Starting from these different voices, the tenors can be classified, we have the lyrical tenor that is characterized by having a powerful and firm voice, meanwhile the light lyrical tenor is characterized by a sharp and agile voice, there are also the spinto lyrical tenor that is a stronger, more natural singing and capable of copying manifestations of emotion, the heroic tenor is a type of voice that requires a lot of physical resistance, the dramatic tenor is the type of voice that requires a lot of power so that it can be heard above of the orchestra, the Mozartian tenor is a type of voice that stands out for its perfection in the way of singing the song and the Rossian tenor which is a type of voice with demands on agility and technical mastery
Among the famous tenors of classical music we can mention Luciano Pavarotti and placido Domingo, who with their great voices have delighted thousands of people.
