Testify is a verb which indicates the action of being a witness or giving a testimony of a certain event, in general, when testifying parameters are established such as a chronology of the facts and the truth is asked to be told. The term is more legal than everyday, since it is used in trials in which it is necessary to debate about the guilt or innocence of someone. Testifying adds a tool and more information to the case and in many cases, testimonies can resolve the issue. Outside the legal sphere we find the same precepts, but in a less official way, for example: "It is necessary for the son to testify in front of his parents why he failed so many subjects", it is a common issue, solvable at home, but likewise the parents represent the superior who judges and the son who is guilty or innocent according to the testimony.
The most curious thing about the term testify is its origin, because, in addition to found stories, they are synonymous with an oath. There is no vehement proof to certify this, but it is believed that in ancient Rome, witnesses took their own testicles with their right hand as a gesture of oath, that is, they swore by their testicles that what they said was true. The etymology of the term for its part shows us that its origin can be from several cultures, the most famous is the Ibero-Latin " Testificare " which in turn is composed of " Testis " which means " Witness " and " Facere " of " Do"Which indicates to us in his conversion to Spanish that it is" Make a witness ".
The object of the verb is clear, to provide relevant information that supports an investigation, in many cases, the person is required to testify, so that the relationship between the testimony and the witness is of vital importance for the process. It should be taken that from the legal sphere there are customs such as putting your hand on a bible to swear before it that the truth is being told, only the truth and nothing but the truth.
