The word text comes from the Latin word textus which means "to weave, to intertwine". It is a series of statements linked by different lexical, grammatical and logical links, these can be oral or written.
The text is composed of signs of one or more alphabets, which are related to each other; the modern acceptance of the word text, means any verbal and complete manifestation that occurs in a communication. Therefore, texts are the writings of literature that we read, the writings and exhibitions of people, the news in the press, advertising banners, those written in letters, conversations or dialogues, among others.
All meaningful text is organized, has its own structure and the parts of which it is composed are linked by a relationship of coherence, cohesion, adequacy, grammar and presentation. The reader must see the interrelation of these elements that compose it to understand it.
The understanding of the content of a text will depend on the critical capacity and understanding of the person, for this he must make a careful reading of the text, understand all the words, context or argument and content of the topic, and if necessary and helpful, be able to make a summary where you expose your personal opinion or your ideas of the text.
According to the intention of the person expressing them, the texts can be informative, instructional, narrative, descriptive, epistolary and expository.
