The term troglodyte derives from the Latin language to be more precise from the word "troglodyta" and at the same time, it derives from the Greek language, to describe those archaic human beings that were characterized by living in caves. On the other hand, the term is also applied as a form of stereotype to describe those individuals who look very similar to those prehistoric men, not to mention that their behavior can also be compared to that of said archaic humans, in short they are people with an uncivilized attitude.
The stereotype of troglodytes was the consequence of various conjectures made by historians from the cave paintings that these prehistoric individuals left as an inheritance. These drawings make the people who created them see as beings that lived in caves, lonely, mean and gross reasoning individuals, such facts have resulted in them being represented as individuals of a wild nature, of little intelligence and without any sense of delicacy and therefore very hostile if they were to be confronted, with regard to their physical appearance they are commonly personified as beings with a lot of fur on their body, with long beards and very negligent in terms of their cleanliness. Experts assure that as far as their clothing is concerned, they usedanimal skins to cover your body and thus protect you from inclement weather.
Nowadays, technological advances have made it possible to decipher the type of life that a hunter and gatherer lifestyle led, however there have been debates as to whether or not they lived in caves or were simply places where they used to gather to carry carrying out their rituals, these discussions are based on the fact that the troglodytes were beings that kept in constant movement, therefore it is strange that they were eradicated in one place.
At present the term troglodyte is used to define those people who have an uncivilized attitude or, failing that, who diverge in terms of the values and habits that are imposed by society. An example of a person considered as a troglodyte is one who does not have any type of hygiene habits such as bathing and brushing their teeth, in the same way a person who chews with an open mouth can be designated as a troglodyte.
