UFOlogy is also called in the Spanish language as UFOlogy. This is a science that is dedicated to the study of the UFO phenomenon, these studies are generally carried out from the analysis of the material related to it, such as: some photographs, videos, alleged testimonies about UFO sightings, radar reports, among others elements of the same type, all this in order to propose hypotheses about the possible origin of such extraterrestrial organisms or objects.
What is ufology
Table of Contents
In ufology for many years, data on unidentified flying objects (UFO) and on encounters with extraterrestrials (in the third phase) have been reported, which have prompted amateur research into these matters. The meaning of Ufology is the science represented by unidentified flying objects (UFOs) it is believed that the managing governments of the areas related to UFO activities maintain exclusive information on the subject. However, the media has received these sightings with skepticism, often disparaging ufology as a pseudoscience and believers in UFOs or aliens as irrational and even mentally ill.
Rather, believers doubt the accuracy and certainty of official science when it comes to the observations they testify. Greg Eghigian, from Pennsylvania State University, in the United States, proposes a study on the historical sources of mistrust between ufologists and scientists.
Some cases of ufology conclude that the doubts of the results about UFOs and aliens should not be used for the ignorance of ufologists about known science but also, that the practices in science and ufology do not coincide at all. It does not matter who is a scientist and who is a ufologist, then whether to do science or not depends on the methods used.
In the field of "ufology" and "science fiction" it is called abduction, an act in which one or more extraterrestrial beings take a terrestrial living being against their will, kidnap it and take it to a certain place, usually for your own spaceship.
Since the 1950s, abduction tales often include the description of a laboratory-like room in which aliens conduct some kind of experiment or research on the abducted individual, there are some ufology photos that evidence the common scenario.
All about ufology cases deal with (subjective) accounts of the abduction, generally including the idea that it would be preceded by loss of will and consciousness during the time of the abduction.
Those who claim to have been victims of kidnapping say that during the rapture they would have suffered a significant period of "lost time", that is, the feeling of having spent a long time, but without being able to remember almost anything of that period. The interior of the ship to which the abductees will go, is usually described as a round and domed room, illuminated by a diffuse light that seems to be coming from the walls and the floor. After being returned from abduction, some report having an abnormality in their body, such as the presence of metallic objects inside it, as described by some ufology books.
A common characteristic of those who claim to have been abducted by UFOs is amnesia, called "lost time" in the slang popularized by New York writer Budd Hopkins, author of the book Missing time in 1981, where he also explains the meaning of ufology.
The history of ufology
Throughout history there have been very diverse cultures that have sustained the presence of extraterrestrials. The Incas, the Mayas or the ancient Egyptians left testimonies that indicate this.
The fact that nano-fossils have been found on other planets suggests to some that it is proof that there is extraterrestrial life in the universe. This thesis is related to another: the "seeds" on Earth, part of the meaning of ufology.
From the point of view of probability and mathematics, in the universe, there must be innumerable solar systems, which implies that mathematically there must have been a similar place like Earth and therefore other forms of life.
Against ufology in the first place, there are many of the supposed extraterrestrial phenomena that have been the product of some deception or manipulation (as an example, you can remember the episode of the aliens from Roswell).
Atypical phenomena occur in the universe that are easily confused with the presence of extraterrestrials (meteorites, atmospheric phenomena or optical effects that are attributed to the world of UFOs).
The “proofs” of ufology are based on testimonies and personal experiences, a procedure contrary to the scientific method, but which explains what ufology is:
It is important to note that during the Middle Ages, ancient and modern. The vision for flying saucers, as explained, began when engineering had already reached a level sufficient to develop jet engines, missiles with spherical scopes and nuclear devices. Which, for writers like Luis Alfonso Gámez, suggests a product of human origin from that time. The idea of being in front of a myth of the space age.
Novelists such as Erik von Daniken (1999), Juan José Benítez (1994) or Jacques Fabrice Vallée (1976) opposed this cause-effect relationship, who argue that, from the most remote past, human beings tried to adapt what they saw to his intellect, relating the different sightings with known objects, close to him.
The first of the quoted writers, said that many of these ancient references to what ufology is indicates that they would be records of real observations of supposed alien ships, which would have received different names in ancient documents: "vehicle of the gods", "vimana ”,“ Pushpaka cart ”and“ Marut ”(all of them in the Hindu Ramayana, from the 3rd century BC); and also "chariot of fire " "glowing borax", "reclined shield" "solar disk", "flying shield", "cloud of fire" "transparent sphere", "luminous pearl" "flying sword", "fiery arrow", "Cosmic light", "Cloud with angels", "serpent of the clouds."
Juan José Benítez (1994) proposed in his book Los astronautas de Yavé that a series of extraterrestrials trained Moses on Mount Sinai in different techniques, they were in charge of offering advice, caring for and feeding the parents of the Virgin Mary, they presented themselves to Saint Joseph, The Magi or were responsible for making the Annunciation. As in the case of Daniken, the Spanish author does not provide any documentary or archaeological evidence of such assumptions.
Fundamentals of ufology
The foundations of ufology are two: the first is that it makes sense to think that the human being is not the only individual who lives in the immensity of the universe and secondly, the fact that a series of strange phenomena have occurred, which make us suspect the presence of extraterrestrial beings on planet Earth.
Throughout history, there have been many cultures that have sustained the presence of extraterrestrials, where ufology is studied. Examples of this were the Incas, the Mayans or the ancient Egyptians, who left testimonies that indicate this.
An important precedent is the finding of nanofossils on other planets, which has led some scientists to think that it is proof that there is extraterrestrial life in the rest of the universe. This theory is related to another: one that indicates the "seeds" on Earth could have come from other planets, this hypothesis is called the panspermia theory.
Some of the most outstanding facts investigated by ufology, are for example the appearance of strange marks on crops, the abduction accounts that many people claim to have been involved in. At present there have been cases of mutilation of animals that are associated with the subject of aliens. On many occasions, science has shown that the cases were only made up stories, however, not all cases have been denied.
For this reason, the defenders of ufology frequently make complaints of possible conspiracies of international governments, with the aim of hiding the alleged evidence of extraterrestrial life. According to some experts in this matter, the authorities do not want the population to have any knowledge of the cases, which is why they care so much to hide this secret.
Where ufology is studied
Ufology is a movement for the investigation of anomalous aerospace phenomena, which may be associated with meteorological phenomena, human aerospace technology or possible extraterrestrial space technology; This relates to issues such as alleged reports of kidnappings, bedroom visits, and lost-time phenomena, as well as crop circles (as one hypothesis attributes their creation to alien technology), the mutilations of livestock that occurred in different countries, Majestic 12 project, etc. However, as such, there is no institute or university where you study about this topic.
Although in some cases there may not be a coherent scientific explanation at this time, in many others they have been shown to be false or distorted facts, prepared to mislead society and have public repercussions.
Any individual who likes to call himself a ufologist, can do so… In the absence of a recognized body that grants, approves, registers or collects said title, whoever has it will be in their real right.
Someone claiming to be a ufologist will likely do more than devour UFO videos or read books.
He is a ufologist who faces, in a self-taught way, research, compilation or study tasks related to the UFO topic (even if they are minimal), regardless of his particular method or approach.
In addition, a ufologist who communicates with other researchers on the subject who in the same way confirm their identity and belonging to a group, while integrating that community that shares similar themes.
These three criteria seem labile, but even if only one of them were met, the necessary condition for someone to be considered a "ufologist" would already be satisfied.
With the same parapsychology career, there comes a time when you have to decide between being a parapsychologist or going to the branch of ufology. You can study the career in different universities such as the United States, the United Kingdom or parapsychology centers, but it does not have the same value as the career, in Argentina there are excellent centers, as in Colombia.
