The magpie is a common bird on the European continent, part of its border with Asia and part of Africa; the official name of this species is Pica pica, which belongs to the corvidae family, with at least ten subspecies of it being found. Other names under which it is known are picaza and picaraza. By the investigations that have been carried out in recent years, it has been determined that the Magpie is one of the most intelligent animals that can be found, since the size of its skull is similar to that of humans and chimpanzees.
The body of this bird shares shades between black and white, which are distributed along its legs, head and body, in addition to some blue or green that can be seen on its tail. Their average measurement is 60 cm, in addition to having small eyes and their beaks are straight and strong. They can be found in many places frequented by humans, since they like their company, just as they have adapted to urbanized areas and the changes currently made; however, they are not comfortable being in dense forests.
They eat all kinds of food, due to the shape and resistance of their beak, therefore, they do not waste food and are always looking for it. They are also scavengers and are attracted to herbs. Group work is essential for their survival, because it is up to their peers not to be attacked by predatory birds, since they attract their attention, and their peers come to their aid; when they scavenge, they do so in small groups, as they need their help and alone only when enough specimens can attract the attention of predators.
