Sexual violence is that which manifests itself with aggressions through physical, mental or moral force, reducing a person to conditions of inferiority, to implement sexual behavior against their will. This is an act whose objective is to subdue the body and the will of the victim.
Sexual violence can be: physical, through the sexual act, touching, etc.
Psychological, when there is sexual harassment, indecent proposals, innuendo, etc.
Sensory, occurs when it is exposed deliberately or not, writings, images, telephone calls, verbal or gestural language, etc.
This kind of violence manifests itself in different ways, some of them are:
Rape: crime committed by an adult when he sexually abuses a minor, using the trust that he has in him.
Forced prostitution: refers to the exploitation of the body of another person in order for the exploiter to obtain money.
Kidnapping: refers to the forced detention of the person to have sexual relations with her.
Sexual harassment: occurs in cases where the boss, using his position, makes proposals to a subordinate to have sex with him or her, and if he refuses, damage may occur.
Rape: is when a sexual penetration occurs by force.
Trafficking in persons: refers to the illegal trade in persons for the purpose of sexual exploitation, reproductive slavery, etc.
Transactional sex: refers to the exchange of sexual favors in exchange for food or protection.
Sexual violence makes no difference if they are children, women or men, anyone can be a victim of this type of violence.
The most common cases of sexual violence are exerted on children (pedophilia) and the rape of women. The sexual aggressor does not necessarily have to be a stranger, in most cases, it is his daily closeness that has allowed him to gain the trust of his victim.
The origin of sexual violence is based on three main factors:
Psychological factor: people with poor sexual self-esteem, inability to achieve arousal without the use of violence, personal history as a victim of sexual abuse, a personality disorder, etc.
Social factor: sexist language, the reification of women in the media.
Situational factors: the consumption of all kinds of drugs, an urgent sexual desire, etc.
