Anonim

The fox is an animal which is grouped in the family of the canids, this is a mammal and like many of its relatives such as the dog, the wolf and the coyote are carnivores. At present, more than 30 species of foxes are known, which are found throughout the planet, however only 12 of these species are considered true foxes, among which the common and red fox stand out. This animal is considered one of the most intelligent of the animal kingdom, they are also popularly known as vulpinos, which may be related to their scientific name (Vulpes Vulpes).

Their life is not very long, they can live from 5 to 7 years in the wild and in captivity they can even double in numbers. They are generally small animals when compared to other members of the canine family. Some of the physical characteristics that most identify it are its tail, which is heavily populated by hairs and the fine shape of its mouth, in addition to which it should be noted that many of its other characteristics will depend on the species and the place where they are located For example, the arctic fox has small ears and has abundant hair, while the desert fox has short hair and large ears.

Foxes can be differentiated from other canines because regarding their social behavior they do not usually conform in herds, on the contrary they are distinguished by being solitary animals, to hunt their prey they usually use a kind of jump, which is practiced since they are puppies, in order to end the life of their prey quickly, the fact that it is a carnivorous animal does not limit it from feeding on other types of food sources, since for example it also consumes some fruits and certain insects.

Another difference with their canine counterparts is that they do not use barking as a form of communication, since to communicate they use other types of techniques, such as signals in the posture of the body, the expressions of their face and the movement of the tails. When they involve some verbal form, the sound they emit is very similar to a human scream.
