If you want to avoid paying tolls to reach your destination, don't hesitate to activate this option. This allows you to avoid all toll roads that you may find on your route. This means that you will save money but, surely, it will take longer to reach your target population.
To activate this function you must do the following:
- Click on your profile picture.
- From the menu that appears, click on the "Settings" option.
- In the new menu that appears, we will look for the “Navigation” option, within the “Displacements” section, and press it.
- We go down and activate "Avoid tolls" .
This way we will avoid all toll roads that may be in our way.
Prioritize routes that save fuel:
If you want Google to mark you, of all the routes you can take to reach your destination, the one that saves the most on gasoline or diesel, activate the option to do so:
- Click on your profile picture.
- From the menu that appears, click on the "Settings" option.
- In the new menu that appears, we will look for the “Navigation” option, within the “Displacements” section, and press it.
- We go down and activate "Give priority to fuel-saving routes" .
Cheapest gas stations on Google Maps:
To be able to see the list of gas stations near where you are, with their prices and everything, simply click on the "Gas Stations" button that we can see under the search bar on the main screen of the app.
From there and by clicking on each of them, you can access more information, including the price of each type of fuel.
Find parking quickly and avoid making too many turns:
If you want to get to your destination and park quickly, avoiding driving around with the consequent use of gasoline, do not hesitate to use the "Car parks" option that we can find, like the "Gas stations" option, under the search engine the initial screen of the application. Scroll the options to the left until you see it and if it is not, click on the "more" option .
All kinds of public and private car parks where you can park your car will appear on the map.
Create a travel plan in Google Maps:
If you want to visit several places on your getaways, what better than creating a travel plan to have saved all those places you want to visit.
To create your own itinerary, just follow these steps:
- Click on the "Save" button that appears in the bottom menu of the home screen of the app.
- Click on “Travel Plans” .
- Add all the stops or places you want to visit on your trip.

When you want to go to any of these places, wherever you are, access the travel plan, point to the stop on the map and click on "How to get there". This will prevent you from having to search for the destination on the map, the routes, etc .
Ideal departure time:
The app can notify you of the right moment to get in the car to avoid traffic jams and, thus, save time when reaching your destination.
To do this, you just have to choose your route, click on the three-dot menu that appears right next to the starting point, click on “Set reminder to leave” and then select “Arrival” and enter the time to which you want to be at your destination and click on “Add reminder”.
This way the app will tell you the exact time you should leave and it will notify you, as long as you have Google Maps notifications activated on your device.
Check traffic:
Know the state of traffic in real time to know when is the best time to visit a monument, place, population.
- Enter the destination you want to go to.
- In the upper right part of the screen, click on the «Layers» button (two superposed squares) and activate the «Traffic» layer .
