Guest mode on iPhone and iPad

Thanks to the focus modes that have arrived with iOS 15, we can create usage profiles on our device according to situations. I personally have 3 configured. One for work, with which I completely change the apps screen of my iPhone, another normal one that I call "Home" which is the one that I have been using since I have been using iOS and another guest that I activate when I leave the phone with a friend, family member, colleague .

Today we are going to focus on guest mode. We are going to teach you how to configure a mode in which we will configure which apps and functions we allow access to people who interact with our device.

How to create a guest mode on iPhone:

The first thing we have to do is access Settings/Concentration mode. On the screen that appears, we must create a new mode, apart from the existing ones. To do this, click on the "+" that appears at the top right of the screen.

Create guest mode

Of the options that appear, we will see that we have many pre-established modes that can be useful in case we want to create a mode that appears in the list. Since the one we want to create does not appear, we click on the "Custom" option .

Now we will have to configure the glyph, color and add the name of the new mode. In this case it must be "Guest" .

Set the new concentration mode

In the next configuration screen, we must choose the people who can notify sending messages, calls while using guest mode.Of course, no one cares about this information, so we remove all contacts. Also, in the option "Allow calls" we select the "Nobody". Then click on the "Do not allow any" option to go to the next menu.

You can vary this configuration at will. You must not do what we say. We mark the guide and you configure to your liking.

Now we have to choose the apps that we allow to send us notifications while this guest mode is activated. We, as you can imagine, delete them all and click on "Do not allow any" to go to the next configuration hehehehe.

Once this is done, our mode will be created and this screen will appear:

Guest mode settings

Set the app screen you want to see in the new focus mode:

Now what we have to do is create a new home screen of apps that we allow access to the people to whom we leave our iPhone.

To do this, we are going to create a new home screen. We keep the screen pressed and when the app icons shake we will move to the left until a completely empty screen appears. There we will add the apps to which we will give our guests permission to access. In our case we will only put the Chrome app, a browser that we do not use and that we have installed only for these cases.

Home Screen

Once we have configured the home screen, we must access Settings/Concentration mode and click on the "Guest" mode. Within the options, click on "Home screen", then on "Hide notification balloons" and activate "Custom pages" where we must leave checked ONLY the one that we have configured for that purpose.

Choose the screen you want to display in the new focus mode

This way we will only give you permission to use that app.

Of course, we have access to the apps that we have in the DOCK and all the other applications that appear in the app library, but it is up to the person to access these apps or not.

To prevent access to all apps we can create a limit on the use of apps except Google Chrome, for example. We activate it before activating the guest mode, and leaving the mobile to the person we want, and in this way they will not be able to access any of the apps to which we set a usage limit and if they access any, they can only do so for 1 minute.

This way we have created a new guest mode and we can leave our iPhone to whoever we want, limiting access to the apps we want.

Greetings.
