In mid-2016, Instagram announced a change to its algorithm whereby, from then on, we would no longer see posts in chronological order on the Timeline. Instead, the posts that supposedly might interest us the most would appear first, based on Likes
THE RETURN OF THE CHRONOLOGICAL ORDER ON INSTAGRAM IS SOMETHING WE ARE VERY WAITING FOR
This change didn't like the majority of users of the photo application and it aroused many complaints demanding the chronological order be restored.Instagram, turned a deaf ear and, although earlier this year it was hinted that we would have it back, we have had no trace of it. Until now.
Just today, as usual, I accessed Instagram while I was on the bus. After a couple of stops and a few posts, a message appeared between posts: “You're up to date. You have seen all new posts from the last 48 hours«.
The message that has appeared after some posts
This message has never appeared before. And as someone who spends a lot of time on Instagram throughout the day, I've been quite surprised. In addition, I have been able to verify that the publications followed a more or less linear order at the chronological level.
The first photo that appeared was a friend's photo, but the others were ordered as follows: the first one was uploaded to 2 minutes, the second was 4 minutes, the third was 3 hours and the fourth was 6 hoursthat was uploaded.
Perhaps they are no more than mere coincidences but, if we take into account the message, which had never appeared, and the very clear chronological order that the publications followed, which I had not seen for a long time, it seems they could consider as indications that perhaps the developers are integrating some new option or, even, the complete return of the chronological order to Instagram.
