Everything pointed to the iPhone 5S update cycle ending with iOS 11.
But it seems that there are signs that the life of this wonderful model will be extended.
iPhone 5S will be compatible with iOS 12
Usually Apple keeps your devices through 5 big iOS updates.
So, following this assumption, the iPhone 5S that came with iOS 7 should end up with iOS 11.
But, oh surprise! MacGeneration has found indications that the iPhone 5S will be compatible with iOS 12.
iPhone 5S will be compatible with iOS 12
While this is good news for all users of iPhone 5S, just because it's compatible with iOS 12 doesn't mean it has all functions of this.
They will still support security updates for one year more than other devices.
The iPhone 5S was a smash hit
This model was a complete success a few years ago. So much so that many users still buy it today.
It was the first iPhone with sensor Touch ID, the revolution of all subsequent Apple models and all other devices up to iPhone X.
In addition, it was also the first mobile with the 64-bit A7 processor in the entire industry.
With these two features and its compact design, it captured all the sales at the time.
Remember that we already told you that Apple forces developers to update all 64-bit apps and the iPhone 5S when carrying said chip would support it.
Is the life of devices increasing?
It seems that since Apple moved away from 32-bit the useful life of devices is increasing.
If it is confirmed that the iPhone 5S will be compatible with iOS 12, Apple will be extending the life of the device for another year, giving it access to security patches, the latest versions of apps and compatibility with other devices.
Maybe Apple will confirm this for us at WWDC along with other news and the presentation of iOS 12. Or so we hope.
