I heard a long time ago that Snapchat would change its interface. I was going to do it gradually, by country and I received news that in the countries that had been implemented, they did not like it at all.
The day came and it was my turn. It took longer to arrive than other Spanish users but in the end the new interface appeared and I LOVED IT!!!
At first everything seemed like chaos, where are my friends? Where are the stories? and the discovery? .It was a bit shocking to see everything mixed up. At first it put me off but once you start using it, you get used to it quickly (at least in my case) and you start to like it.
How is the new Snapchat interface?:
It is divided into three very different parts:
- Left Zone: In it we will have all the profiles, or users, with whom we interact. Among them, the snapchaters that we follow stand out because in case they have published Snaps, a little circle will appear on their profile image. It is not the area where the people who follow and follow you appear, but the people with whom you interact, whether they follow you or not.

- Central part: It is the area where we recorded the Snaps and it has not changed.
- Right Zone: The old Discover zone is now a place where you can see celebrities, actors, athletes, popular stories, events, the media and also, The users you follow but they don't follow you. The latter will appear first as long as they have generated stories. They are distinguished from the others because in the upper right part of their story, a white mark appears as a bookmark.

Pros of this new interface:
- Discovering new accounts is encouraged. On the right side are official profiles of famous people, popular stories of snapchaters who have had many views and Snapchat rewards them by appearing on the right. This can happen to any of us as long as our history is widely seen.
- The possibility of appearing as a featured story. It remains to know the number of visits that we have to have in order to appear in this section.
- When viewing private messages you can see if your contact, if you follow him, has generated any stories. A lot of people don't like this but I personally do. It favors that when answering a message you can see if that person has generated any content.
Cons of the new Snapchat interface:
- The possibility of selecting the stories you want to see at once disappears. Before you could select the stories you wanted to see at once. Now that has stopped working. When viewing a story, move on to the next. If you are interested in the one that continues, click on its circle and if not, slide to the left to go to the next one.
- The chronological order disappears from the messages and from the stories it disappears.Now everything is organized according to how you interact with other snapchaters. The algorithm will first show the people that it understands interest you the most, based on the use you make of your profile. Viewing stories and replying to messages can drive you crazy.
The Snapchat Algorithm:
The friends page, the one on the left, is now more dynamic. It will show your friends based on how you communicate with them.
The new algorithm makes it easy to find the people you want to talk to, when you want to talk to them. Before we had to scroll and scroll between chats to find the person we are looking for. Now our friends will appear in the order you want to talk to them, as understood by the algorithm.
It may take a while for the friends page to learn the best way to show you to your friends, but the result will be worth it.
Our opinion on the new Snapchat interface:
Snapchat with this new change is favoring the profiles of the most famous. We believe that he tries, with this, to attract famous people again to attract hundreds and hundreds of users to this social network.
It also wants people to interact more. That is why now it will be very important not to stop commenting, answering, asking to appear to your followers in the upper part of the left area.
The creators of this platform want, once again, for the users who left to return, for people to interact more with each other, for celebrities to attract their great mass of followers, for content creators to work harder when doing it given the possibility of reaching millions of people, on the right side of the interface.
For us a great change that has also come with new text fonts and more news that are worth noting.
