To give you an idea of the app's potential, GOOGLE recently acquired the Word Lens app, which will supposedly allow users of Google Glass smart glasses Being able to translate a text with your eyes.

With this app, we can translate texts live, using the camera of our device iOS and without having to have an internet connection .

INTERFACE:

This is the screen that we access directly, when accessing the app (Click or pass the cursor over the white circles to learn more about the interface) :

HOW TO TRANSLATE LIVE TEXTS:

The first thing we will have to do is download the languages we need or with which we want to work. This is done by clicking on the world map that appears at the bottom left of the main screen.

We choose the languages that interest us and make the purchase (at 05-19-2014 all these purchases were FREE) .

After this, in that same menu we select the language we want to translate and the language we want to translate to. In our case we are going to use ENGLISH – SPANISH. Once chosen, press "OK" at the top right of the screen.

The interface with which to capture the text to be translated will appear, so we focus on it so that it automatically translates it for us.

When we have the text, poster, letter in focus and we have the translation, in order to see it better we recommend you pause the camera to be able to read the translated text calmly.

By clicking on the button marked with an eye, we can hide the translation and see the original text. We can also share it, by clicking on the "SHARE" option that is located to the right of the hide translation button.

Very easy to use this app right?.

Here we pass you a video in which you can see its interface and operation:

OUR OPINION ABOUT WORD LENS:

We think it is a very good application to translate texts live, thanks to the use of the so-called "augmented reality". Simply by focusing on a text in another language, it will be automatically translated. This app seems magical.

We need to clarify that WORD LENS works best on large menu cards and billboards that are well lit. This application is less effective on books and stylized text, although it can be used for this as well.

At the time of the translation itself, we have to say that it is literal, which is why nonsense phrases are often created and which require a bit of imagination to know what they mean.

But saving these cons of the app a bit, we have to say that we used it on a trip we made to London and it helped us a lot, especially when ordering in restaurants, and thanks to the fact that you can use without internet connection. Focusing the letter and seeing how it is translated instantly, paved the way for us when ordering food. We also use it to translate posters and, to a lesser extent, for more populated texts and we have to say that with a little patience, everything can be translated and understood.

It is an APPerla that will help us a lot to translate, especially when we travel abroad, posters, restaurant menus, offers in large stores, etc. and all of this at the moment and in a very simple way.
