Advent is a voice that derives from Latin roots, specifically from the entry “adventus”, which means “arrival”, lexically composed by the prefix “ad” which is equivalent to “towards”, plus the root “venire” which means “ come ”and the suffix“ lie ”that refers to“ means ”or“ result ”. For their part, other sources state that in a religious sense the word comes from the Latin phrase "adventus Redemptoris" which literally in our language means "coming of the Redeemer". According to the great dictionaries of the Spanish language, advent refers to the solemn time also described as liturgical time, during which the preparation of Christmas takes place.
Advent is a term widely used in various religions, or in some of the Christian Churches, where they state that it is the first period of the liturgical year, which is based on the time in which they prepare spiritually to celebrate the birth of the so-called Christ. This process generally covers from 22 to 28 days, because it needs to be integrated with the four Sundays closest to the celebration of Christmas; However, in the Orthodox Church, the Advent period lasts for 40 days, which are from November 28 to January 6.
It is important to mention that almost all Christian Churches celebrate Advent, of course they can be differentiated by certain peculiarities, among them are: the Catholic Church; the Anglican Communion; the Coptic Orthodox Church; the Orthodox Catholic Apostolic Church, the Protestant Churches such as Lutheran, Presbyterian, Methodist, Moravian, etc. also the color that is usually used for those days is purple.
