Advent is a term related to the verb to come, from the Latin “advenīre”, which refers to the action of arriving, happening, surviving or coming. The advent, therefore, is the arrival of something or someone, especially if it is expected and solemn. In our current language, the concept of advent is used to indicate or designate the arrival of a person or moment. It is very common to use the word advent in relation to religious matters, especially in Catholicism when talking about the coming or second coming of Jesus.
Advent, in any case, generally refers to God's return to planet Earth. Therefore, the Second Coming is spoken of. In the case of Christianity, the advent is associated with the return of Jesus Christ to the world for the salvation of humanity.
The Christian tradition holds that Christ died on the cross, resurrected and ascended to heaven. His return is now expected to judge people and establish the Kingdom of God on Earth. It is not known, however, when this advent will take place.
Within the religious sphere, we must also highlight the existence of what is known as the "The Three Angels" Seventh-day Adventist Church. It is a group of religious, with an organization located in Dallas (United States-Texas) which proclaims the word of God and that specifically bets on the second coming of Christ.
The Islam and Hinduism are other religions that depend on an advent coming to save the world. Faith makes religious people look forward to this event in a special way, trying to be prepared for the Day of Judgment.
In the same way, it is not necessary to ignore that the word advent in the past was used to refer to a concrete event. That is, it was used to refer to an event of relevance and importance that took place.
There is also an expression that refers to the use of the term in question: "await the holy advent." This verbal expression is used to record colloquial one is waiting for the occurrence of an event of great importance and significance and is taking a long time in coming.
