Despite the ecological importance of the lagoon, they are very vulnerable to the effects of environmental degradation and pollution. The process that makes these bodies an effective nutrient bait also makes them a great pollution bait. It is very important that the organisms in charge of its preservation are constantly monitored. The destruction of areas such as pastures or mangrove forests reduces the productivity of the system, restricting the productive potential of valuable species. This is why much importance should be given to the conservation of forests and pastures near the lagoon, deforestation of the basin must be prevented in any way.
