It is the ninth version of Android for smart terminals, it was launched under the name 4.0 in October 2011 and with the image of the Ice Cream Sandwich which in Spanish means ice cream sandwich. It is an operating system developed by Google Inc, whose predecessor of the Android Honeycomb version and its successor, Android Jelly Bean.
The Android Ice Cream Sandwich operating system or Android 4. (It was also called by its acronym in English as ICS) is a system developed by the Google company for smartphones in late 2011. It is a discontinued dislike of Android systems. It is based mainly on the quality of serving both smartphones and tablets, that is, for any smart device, it is the result of Google's efforts to unify operating systems.
Among its outstanding features are a refreshing on the home screen with near-change communication (NFC), a technology that allows two devices to be coupled for sequential operation 4 cm apart. It also included support for accessing applications with the screen locked with limited use, such as the music player and the camera. Facial recognition is another of the new functions that the system incorporates, as well as controlling and limiting the use of mobile data.
Ice Cream Sandwich was an operating system praised by critics, who considered that Google had achieved indisputable improvements in appearance, performance and functionality by offering an attractive and intuitive user experience. Its design would simplify that of previous versions of Android that were considered too complicated.
The NEXUS Galaxy was its launch device, Android version 4.0 was updated in December 2011 (same year of launch) to version 4.0.3; its second update, android 2.0.4, took place in March 2012 with which it incorporated improvements in camera performance. In March 2015 Google announced that there would be no more updates to Ice Cream Sandwich, permanently discontinuing the operating system.
The Android 4.0 icon was the characteristic green android transformed into an ice cream sandwich, with the chocolate cookie cover and creamy ice cream center.
