Self- criticism is the disposition that people have to admit their mistakes for later correction. Self-criticism allows, according to psychology specialists, a greater knowledge of the person of their true abilities, at the same time that they improve their quality of life and the intrapersonal relationships that they may have in a work environment, family, study classroom and any space in which you have to live with individuals who carry out similar activities or who belong to a hierarchical line.
Self-criticism is not only the review of behavior, it also involves monitoring performance in the different areas in which the person performs, all for the sake of improvements in what is done. To carry out a self-criticism in the academic area , we must take into account how our grades and results obtained in the evaluation plan proposed in the institution have been. These should be compared with the current grades, if there is a decrease in the final quality and the objective of the study should be changed or optimized the way in which the subject in which the anomaly is detected is studied, reviewed or practiced.
Self-criticism is not necessarily done when there are negative behaviors in the person. Anyone who is capable of transmitting good manners or excellent skills to undertake team projects can carry out a self-criticism at the same time that he is subjected to the criticism of people in order to get an idea of what is right in a relationship.
In the political history of humanity, self-criticism has been a tool of communism with which the political leaders of organizations such as Stalinism were subjected to public scandium to confess their crimes of corruption, blaming themselves for acts that threatened the sovereignty of the nation.
This Marxist theory forced the government representatives to expose the causes and consequences of their crime, at the same time that a clear message was given to the people that basically consisted of fear, because if the politicians within the government leadership did not they escaped justice, citizens were also subject to law.
