When we speak of self-image, we refer to the image that our subconscious has of ourselves. This image manipulates our personality, our behavior and is responsible for everything we are in every moment of our life. What we think of ourselves affects this image, that is why there are days when we look in the mirror, pleasant and successful and other days without attractiveness and losers. Many times we wake up disappointed in our life, how little we have achieved or what we have not achieved.

Other times we wake up optimistic with the desire to live fully, work hard, and achieve our goals. What happens around us, good and bad experiences make us send messages to the subconscious and form our own image.

Self-image is the fundamental factor for a person to succeed or fail, because we are the result of our imagination. It is almost impossible to go beyond the image we have of ourselves.

It should be noted that in psychology, the concept of self-schema is used more frequently, rather than self-image, although both refer to the same thing: the image that each one forges in his mind about himself.

The self-image or own schema, as he likes to call it, turns out to be very important when it comes to helping us process information, especially that which is relevant to our own life. Also, when the time comes, these charts will help us remember some issues and influence the decisions we make.

The Greek philosopher Socrates among his reflections, is remembered for an idea: know yourself. It is a very suggestive proposal, because only if we have valid knowledge about our individuality can we have the psychic stability that each individual yearns for.

There are approaches of a spiritual nature (for example, Buddhism), philosophical or psychological proposals that give special importance to the idea of ​​having a sincere self-image. This implies knowing ourselves and, therefore, establishing a dialogue with ourselves, with the set of ideas, motivations and feelings that we have in our minds. It is a complex and laborious intellectual exercise. For this, each discipline proposes some type of technique: meditation, introspection, critical analysis or even some type of therapy such as psychoanalysis.

It is important to emphasize that those who present very negative judgments about themselves should control them because the consequences can be really harmful in social interaction and also in the development of their existence.

A person who is characterized by being very perfectionist will never be satisfied with the achievements and will go for more and more. Every attempt to overcome, and in some cases not to succeed, can have a negative impact and make the person unsuccessful.
