The Olympic Charter is a document that is in charge of regulating, normalizing and governing everything concerning the Olympic Movement; This letter or writing contains a series of rules, norms or principles that makes it possible to regulate the Olympic activity. The Olympic charter was created by the International Olympic Committee, also known by its acronym "IOC", around 1908 as support or support of all the fundamental principles that establish its norms; in addition, each one of the conditions and guidelines for the celebration of the Olympic Games and each of its participants are set. It is important to mention that throughout history and since its creation the Olympic Charter has been repeatedlycause of many Olympic controversies within the games.
The main objectives that the Olympic Charter seeks to cover are: to establish what are the duties and rights of each of the characters that will participate in the Olympic Movement, such as the International Federations, the International Olympic Committee, the National Committees and the committees in charge of planning and conducting the Olympic Games. Another of the main purposes of this document is to erect all the rules, values and principles of Olympism. Last but not least, the Olympic Charter functions as an unbreakable regulation for the International Olympic Committee.
The official languages in which the Olympic Charter is drawn up are English and French; however it is translated into other languages such as Spanish, Russian, German, Portuguese, etc. all so that participants from other countries can read the regulations in their mother tongue, avoiding possible disagreements on the content of the text and, if they occur, they use their original language.
