The word development is seen as synonymous with evolution and refers to the process of change and growth related to a situation, individual or specific object. When talking about development we can refer to different aspects: human development, economic development, or sustainable development. Therefore, each of them will be analyzed in order to understand what they are about.
When speaking of human development, it is defined as a progress or improvement in the quality of life of people, integrating its social, economic and political aspects that, when joined, represent a social evolution. In the first place, it provides that people see their basic needs met, then their complementary ones, and all this within an environment of respect for human rights. These two elements being: human development and human rights, two terms that go hand in hand.
One of the main objectives of human development is to be able to give the person the opportunity to choose the life project that best suits them for their existence. Each person is able to choose how to live, what work to do, how to establish a family, what religion to profess, etc.
Regarding development linked to the economy, this is defined as the capacity of a country or nation to generate wealth, in order to provide both economic and social well-being for the inhabitants. A country with economic development is a prosperous country where the conditions of goods and services are within the reach of all social groups that make up the population.
A society that has a good economic development, presents characteristics of economic and social integration; in addition to having a small number of people living on the margins.
And finally, there is sustainable development, which allows an improvement in present living conditions, without endangering the resources of future generations. That is, an adequate use of the resources that are had, satisfying the needs of the population, but without squeezing the natural assets to the extreme.
For there to be sustainable development, it is necessary to have three basic elements: society, environment and economy and that these coexist in absolute harmony.
