Heart failure is a condition in which the heart muscle no longer has the ability to pump blood with abundant carbon dioxide throughout the body correctly, which can cause symptoms throughout the body. It can be said that heart failure is a syndrome that is generated as a result of other disorders, which can be of a functional or structural type and that make it difficult for the heart to function properly.
This pathology in most of the patients where it occurs is chronic, however there are cases in which it can occur sporadically. This can be caused by different pathologies that affect the heart muscle. Some of the scenarios where heart failure is more frequent are, when the myocardium is unable to pump blood from the heart correctly, which is called "systolic heart failure", another reason is what is known such as "diastolic heart failure," which is when the myocardium does not fill with blood properly.
As blood pumping from the heart becomes increasingly poor, blood can pool in other regions of the body, such as the liver, lungs, gastrointestinal tract, as well as in the extremities (arms and legs). This is known as "congestive heart failure." The most frequent causes are when other pathologies such as CAD are present, which is nothing more than when the arteries that carry blood to the heart are closed, arterial hypertension problems can also cause the heart to weaken, other less frequent causes are infections in the myocardium, heart attacks, hyperthyroidism, anemia, sarcoidosis, excess iron in the body, among others.
Generally the symptoms begin to appear gradually, initially they may appear when the individual is doing some activity, with the passage of time, the symptoms can worsen a little more, even affecting the respiratory system, some symptoms are They can present even when the body is at rest, some of these are, weakness in the body, cough, fainting, loss of hunger, shortness of breath after finishing a physical activity, swollen liver, weight gain, the feet often swell, etc.
