A blood libel is a kind of Jewish ritual where a Christian child was sacrificed during Passover, the execution of these rituals attributed to the Jewish people have their origin from ancient Greece to the present day. The rite consisted of kidnapping a young man who had not reached puberty yet, then he was locked up until he was sacrificed.
When the moment of the ritual arrives (which is normally at night), a group of people gather at the execution site, which (according to some testimonies) was performed in the synagogue, once there the child is subjected to the most Cruel torture, such as whipping, mutilation, beatings, until finally it is nailed to a cross, this cross is raised so that the blood that comes out of the wounds is collected in special containers. Finally, the child is killed and his body is used for black magic rites.
There have been many cases of blood libel that have occurred throughout history, one very famous was the one carried out against a Greek child on the island of Rhodes, which occurred in 1840. In this case, the Greek Orthodox community accused the Jews who inhabited the region, if they were the authors of that despicable act, even had the support of some diplomatic representatives of European countries. As a result, several Jews were imprisoned and the Jewish community in the area was held incommunicado for several days.
However, the Semites residing in Rhodes sought help from their compatriots in Constantinople, and in other nations of Europe, trying to condemn the wrong way in which the Jews were accused of blood libel deeds. Thus, a consensus in favor of the Jews was generated within the headquarters of the diplomatic organizations of Europe which resulted in the release of the imprisoned Semites, considering them innocent of what they were accused of.
On the other hand, the Jewish community considers that all these accounts and accusations against them are due to an anti-Semitic campaign that wants to discredit and demonize all Jews.
