Scope is the term used to refer to a space that has certain limits, whether they are real or imaginary. In the same way, one can talk about the activities that take place in a specific area. In short, it is a perimeter. In general, the word is used when discussing issues that concern certain branches of science. In the musical field, the scale of acute notes found in a melody is called scope or ambitus; it is common that it is related to the songs of religious type. In computing, also known as scope, it is the name by which the relationship between certain actions of the application and a name or command is called.
This word entered the Spanish language for the first time around the 14th century. It is a cultism from the old Latin “ambitus”, a verbal effect of the word “ambire”, whose translation oscillates between “going from one place to another” and “going from one place to another”. The use of the original form of the word only remains in the musical concept of scope. There, the existence of intervals between the highest and lowest notes of a melody is explained.
