Mercury is a planet that belongs to the solar system and is very close to the sun and is the smallest of all its members. Little is known about this planet according to studies made by NASA, it does not have satellites and is rocky.
At first, experts thought that Mercury only had a single face to the sun, something that was also thought of the Moon but it was discovered that its translation period was 58 days, thanks to a probe sent to study its surface. Mercury has an orbit much lower than that of the Earth, although this planet from time to time passes in front of the sun, a phenomenon that is called astronomical transit.
Mercury belongs to the group of the four rockiest planets in the solar system, however it is the smallest of the four and is made up of 70% metallic elements. The density of Mercury is the second largest in the system, being slightly lower than that of Earth.
On the other hand, there is a chemical element that also bears this name and is known as liquid silver, since its color is silver and it is the only metallic element that is liquid under extreme conditions, being the second after bromine which is an element non-metal that does not change your body in experimental situations.
This element is found in all deposits on the planet and is mainly found as cinnabar. Mercury is commonly used in thermometers, barometers, among others, given the anguish of many people due to its high level of toxicity, it has been largely withdrawn from thermometers in hospital centers, being replaced by other alternatives.
