The main concept can also be used to describe the creator of an idea, matter, or nation, among many other variations. For example, Hippocrates is said to be the father of medicine and Sigmund Freud the father of psychoanalysis. The word in question, when used in this way in the political sphere, is because the person receives the greatest of honors, distinctions and tributes, being considered a fundamental pillar and a key piece in the process that is carried out.., like taking or conquering a city. In general, "fathers" in the political arena are honored through monuments, drawings or names of streets and parks.

The term Father of the Nation is widely used in those nations that have strong patriotic feelings and it is their inhabitants who designate their national heroes with the new concept.

The term father is closely related to the Christian religion, since this word generally designates God. This means that for Catholics, "father" is one of the ways of calling their highest divinity. Also, Christians use the term father to refer to the regular priests of the Catholic Church, in addition to the first person of the Holy Trinity (Father, Son and Holy Spirit).
