Straw is defined as the stem belonging to a type of plants known as "grasses" specifically are plants that offer grains and cereals, colloquially called "cane" and this includes all types: oats, wheat, barley, rice, rye, etc. This is used after the seed has been cut and separated from the cane; Its uses are very varied, among which are:
- Bed used for poultry and livestock animals: cows, pigs, chickens, roosters, hens, etc., which have the possibility of filling it with feces without causing major disaster.
- Animal feed on a farm, remember that the cow is a ruminant animal (it is constantly chewing), the cellulose in the straw is easily digested by poultry animals, if you want to increase the nutritional load, the straw can be combined with other elements (eg: molasses) accordingly, straw serves as an important element when feeding these species in cases of scarcity or low purchasing power by the owner, however when a cow is fed alone under this regimen for a long time you will lose weight steadily.
- In horticulture, straw packed in boxes is used to protect the fertile soil where the numerous plants of the garden are buried, especially as a means of maintaining humidity when the grass is sown.
- Source of energy, because straw can be a fuel quickly, that is, it has the ability to burn quickly without any problem.
