It is any fact or deletion that illegitimately, implies damage to the survival of the victim; It manifests itself through: the loss, theft, transformation, concealment, destruction, or retention of assets, work instruments, documents or financial resources, destined to the satisfaction of their needs.
Although generally this form of violence is against adults, there are also cases where patrimonial violence is against adolescents or children, when there is improper appropriation of goods, monetary benefits or in kind, belonging to the minor by a relative or authorized person.
The most frequent case of patrimonial violence arises within the marriage. Marriage is an institution where the man and the woman acquire duties and rights; everything that is acquired within him will belong to both. However, it is the man who, generally, is in charge of managing the household expenses, which is why when conflicts arise in the couple it is possible that one of the parties (generally the man) incurs patrimonial violence when destroy property, hide documents, retain objects or economic resources; for the sole purpose of causing harm to the other person.
It could then be said that patrimonial violence is associated with psychological violence, since the victim is harmed by receiving abuse, whose objective is to make a person feel bad and humiliate.
Its main objective is aimed at causing damage to movable or immovable property in deterioration of the victim's patrimony or to the property of the conjugal community.
It is important to remember that if someone damages your property or belongings, hides your correspondence or personal documents, or disposes of your property without your consent, they are exercising patrimonial violence against you. It is likely that it is thought that this is not violence, since there is no hitting or screaming involved, but they are actions that hurt and damage the right to live a dignified life
