Gingerbread is the name of one of the versions of Android, the seventh exactly. It is an operating system for smart devices developed by Google. It was released in 2010, in December with the update identification number as Android 3.0; this time Android took the gingerbreads as the image of its system (Gingerbread), thus fulfilling the alphabetical sequence for sweets.
On December 6, 2010, Google announced the release of its new Android update with version 3.0; which was represented by a gingerbread taking the traditional gingerbread men as an icon. One of the main events that characterized its launch was the launch of the NEXUS S Smartphone; With the operating system, it was the first smartphone to support NFC (short-range wireless technology) with which the device could connect over short distances with other smart terminals expanding its functions or serving as a remote command system.
Gingerbread broke the rules with the cutting edge technology that was incorporated into their system; however, functions were added with which the user could view full HTML code web pages, view Google Maps maps with GPS support, make dictations and analyze voice commands for calls.
This operating system was the first of its kind to incorporate support for extra large screens by adjusting their resolution and with it you could copy and paste text with touch functions.
This version of Android was updated four times, the first was Android 2.3.4 on April 28, 2011 where Google talk functions for videos and voice were introduced; the second was in July 2011 with the number 2.3.5 with which the efficiency of the battery was improved; the third was Android 2.3.6 in August 2011 improving system stability and finally it was updated in September of the same year with the Android 2.3.7 version that provided Google Wallet support for the Nexus S 4G.
